Admitted to the recruitment competition for hospital interns in Dakar in December 1983, Dr. Serigne Magueye Gueye underwent surgical training in the university services of Dakar hospitals. At the end of this internship, he was appointed Clinical Head at the Faculty of Medicine of Cheikh Anta Diop University and Assistant in the university services of hospitals at A. Le Dantec Hospital, starting from January 2, 1988.
Registered on the List of Eligibility for the Position of Assistant Professor (LAFMA) of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) in 1993, Dr. Serigne Magueye Gueye passed the Aggregation Competition in Surgery/Urology of CAMES during the 8th session held in Abidjan in 1996 before being promoted to Full Professor at the Universities in July 2000.
As a clinician conducting both clinical and fundamental research activities, he has been able to establish a network of national, regional, and international collaborations in the fields of medical education, scientific research, and healthcare for the population.
As part of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Serigne Magueye Gueye has continuously participated in think tanks related to the organization of the healthcare system, the implementation and evaluation of hospital reform, the organization of hospital care services, healthcare financing, and the training of human resources for healthcare.
